Repetitive Strain Injuries

Many people will suffer some form of Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) during their lives, often as a result of their work. RSI can affect people who are sitting at a desk working on a computer for long periods of time; or those people who have to carry out repetitive tasks in factories, or on production lines. Workers in many different jobs are vulnerable to RSI on a daily basis.

If you are suffering from RSI you will probably be feeling upset and in pain but also let down by your employer. In addition you will probably be concerned about the future of your job and whether it is prudent to make a claim for compensation against your employer.

We do understand how you are feeling and we will be able to talk to you about your circumstances and clearly explain your legal position to you. This will then help you to decide what steps you would like to take and whether you want to make a claim for compensation. You should not be concerned about how your employer will treat you if you make a claim for compensation. They have insurance in place to cover these situations and they should not treat you any differently.

Types of Repetitive Strain Injuries
There are two types of Repetitive Strain Injuries, type 1 and type 2. Type 1 RSI is where a medical diagnosis can be given from your symptoms. Conditions such as tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome and bursitis are all type 1 RSI conditions.

Type 2 RSI conditions are where a medical diagnosis cannot be given because the symptoms do not fit with a recognised condition.

If you think you are suffering from RSI, you should speak to your GP and ask him to try to give you a diagnosis of your problem and you will then be able to start treatment.

If you are not sure what has caused your RSI, you should contact us so we can talk to you about your situation and help you to understand if you have a claim for compensation.
