Accident and Emergency (A&E) Departments are used for exactly that: accidents and emergencies. However, many more people are using A&E departments and the pressures on these facilities are huge. Due to massive budget cuts, most A&E departments are understaffed and overworked and also under huge pressure to meet the tough targets laid down by the government.

As a result of all of these pressures and constraints, sometimes patient care suffers and things get missed. Most of the time the treatment provided by A&E departments is good, but occasionally it isn’t and the treatment one receives is below par.

What can go wrong?

What happens next?
