Jane trained as a nurse at St. Bartholomews Hospital London and then worked in theatres in Belfast
specialising in Burms Trauma/Orthopaedics, Plastic Surgery. Moving to work in Birmingham from 1985 as
theatre sister and later theatre manager of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital managing 13 theatres specialising
in cardiac, livers, neurosurgery, general, ENT / Head & neck , Vascular and urology.
Jane then moved into Risk management working as risk manager at the Birmingham Childrens Hospital where she
set up the Clinical Governance department introducing incident reporting / risk training throughout the Trust.
Based on near miss data, systems would then be introduced to minimise major disaster. She studied Post grad
Risk management / Clinical Risk Management at UCL and Loughborough Universities and was involved in Trust
investigations into serious clinical incidents and as a member of an external inquiry in Manchester relating
to the deaths of children there following surgery. This post linked closely with complaints & litigation.
There then followed a short period as Matron of a Nuffield Hospital before moving to Bristol and setting up
practice in a private Medicine centre undertaking Colon Hydrotherapy treating clients with a variety of problems
including post op cancer treatment, eating disorders, IBS also television crews & other travellers infected via
poor water or food.
Jane continues this practice whilst working part time with Metcalfes.
