Gilly trained as a solicitor at a large regional firm in the West Country,
and spent a year of her training contract in the clinical negligence department
before qualifying into this area in 2009. Since qualifying, Gilly has gained
extensive clinical negligence experience at an international law firm, before joining Metcalfes in 2011.
Gilly specialises in clinical negligence claims against General Practitioners, NHS
Trusts and private medical practices and she is passionate about trying to take steps
to ensure that not only are clients compensated for their injuries, but that lessons
are learnt from mistakes made within the NHS and other medical institutions, and
that change in practice is considered to prevent the same thing happening again.
Gilly has a particular interest in cases involving cauda equina syndrome, the delay
in diagnosis of cancer, obstetric and gynaecological care and those relating to paediatric
and neonatal care. Gilly also represents clients at Coroner's inquests and is particularly
interested in geriatric care where medical neglect is alleged.
Gilly is accredited as a Litigator by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers
(APIL) and is a member of Bristol Law Society.
