Barry joined Metcalfes in September 2011 and specialises in Company and Commercial law.
He trained at a large regional firm, before qualifying as a solicitor in September
2011. There he gained considerable experience in all areas of company & commercial
work, taking on a caseload which involved transactional work, various matters in the
entertainment and leisure sector, extensive work on commercial contracts and agreements,
and providing intellectual property and business advice to clients of all sizes.
Barry works alongside Tony Forster in the Company Commercial team, which prides itself
on a client focused personable service and a commercial attitude which interacts with
our client's requirements and goals. Most importantly, the team prides itself on a
solution focused outlook, which is cost effective and affordable, and sees the team
working with local businesses to meet their objectives, and get things done in a quick
and efficient manner.
Barry's particular areas of specialism include drafting and negotiating commercial
contracts and agreements, terms and conditions, company law and business issues,
(including sale and purchase, share transactions and associated issues), and non-contentious
intellectual property advice. He also has an avid interest in IT related matters,
and social media.
Barry is responsible for the upkeep of the Metcalfes blog of useful business hints
and aides to assist business people. This is sent to all clients on the Company
Commercial database. He is also a member of the Bristol Sundown Rotary club, for
young professionals.
